Fabl's Genre Detection Pipeline

Getting genre right is complex. We employ a multi-stage process built with modularity and accuracy in mind:

1. Audio Feature Extraction: When you upload a track, we first extract a wide range of low-level and high-level audio features. We utilize powerful libraries like Essentia.js and potentially TensorFlow.js for this critical step. This includes analyzing rhythm, timbre, harmony, and structure.
2. Machine Learning Models: These extracted features are fed into pre-trained machine learning models. We use hierarchical models capable of understanding broad genres (like Electronic, Rock, Hip-Hop) as well as specific sub-genres.
3. Custom Taxonomy Mapping: Here's where Fabl gets specific. Our models are trained and mapped to our extensive, custom 519-genre taxonomy. This allows for highly granular classifications, far beyond simple top-level genres.
4. Background Processing: To ensure a smooth user experience, complex analysis runs as background jobs using Trigger.dev, preventing UI freezes.
5. API Integration: The results are delivered back to the application via a dedicated API endpoint.
